Virtual Grandparents Day

Each spring, our school opens their doors to grandparents and special friends for a morning of fun-filled activities! Being in a distance learning model this year, grandparents were invited into our Google Meet virtual classrooms.

We learned about an upcoming Jewish holiday from our Judaics/Hebrew teacher, participated in a guided drawing activity led by our French teacher, and lastly, the Grade 2 students and grandparents had a break out session to conduct a Grandparent Interview. The grandparents and students connected privately (outside of our virtual classroom) using their platform of choice (FaceTime, Skype, Google Hangouts, old fashioned phone call, etc.) to conduct this interview.

Inspired by the many Covid-19 Time Capsules I have seen online, I decided to create this interview template for our class to use in order to help document their grandparents’ experiences.

This interview page will become part of the Grade 2 Covid-19 Time Capsule that our students have been working on for the last number of weeks.

  1. Great way to document what has been “going on” with a little one during this time. Love that it was an interview back and forth. Nice way to highlight the silver linings that are amplified during this time.
